I’ve got most of my stuff laid out in garage ready to pack up tomorrow- after I check a few last things on the 4Runner.
As for food, my son and I were planning on going super simple freeze dried meals in pouches and the like. Might throw a few things in cooler to take advantage of the cooking options ya’ll are bringing. Game time decision I suppose.
I wanted to confirm we are planning on using HAM for trail comms - correct? Posse V2 (151.760 MHz) ?
And also - I am not planning to bring my chainsaw. Jeff or Jaime are you bringing yours? Wasn’t thinking we’d need it if people have been all the way through but wanted to check with everyone.
Lastly, I have a little bit of wood I am planning to bring in case conditions warrant a campfire. I have my permit as well.
Looking forward to the trip.

Well, I just might bring a steak to toss on the flat top! We should be able to find firewood. I'm not going to bring my chainsaw but the only reason to bring it would be to cut firewood. I assumed we would have a campfire for ambience if for nothing else. Given the pace of this trip, I thought we would have time to do some cooking but I didn't want to be the only one having good food so I'm glad to hear that others are going to do some real cooking.

I'll have my radio also. I think I initially said ch1, which I should be 151.700, but the channel doesn't really matter to me. If the group prefers .760 that would be fine with me. I'll be heading up through Auburn and Georgetown, I'm guessing beside Jeff, everyone else will be via 50. We can figure it out at the spillway when we meet up.

Got all packed up and my son and I decided to head up to Loon Lake Campground tonight to camp and be that much closer to the spillway. See you all at 830 am tomorrow morning (unless you come join us at loon lake cg:-)
I was considering going up tonight but too late now. Don't forget to bring some swimwear to cool off and wash the trail dust off of you. I'm all packed except for the ice chest. How much stuff can one man put it a TJ?!

That was a pretty amazing trip, ate way better than I though I wood camping there. The new Granite View Loop on the RTF property did not dissapoint and was well put together with winch points on the obstacles that really needed them, I am sure you will get a full download at the meeting but we had to pull winch line once on the RTF property entrance and then 3 more times on the loop itself. Quote of the trip; heard over the radio pulling up to one of the climbs on the loop, "oh hell no!".
I wish I could be at the meeting to hear all the laughs as they go through the run.
I created a photo gallery for the trip because I know a ton of pics were taken so start filling it up! And if you have a video to add, post it in youtube and send me the public link so I can add it to the video's page. Grant got a bunch of them so I will get them added.

I saw a post about an F250 that rolled off the cliff on Cadillac Hill and ended up 100 feet down the slope. The couple is fine but their dog died. The driver said he will never forgive himself but the replies have been very supportive and some are from those who were there. Apparently he was trying to back up the hill to allow uphill traffic to pass when he rolled. Just a reminder that what we do has risk. The vehicle was too heavy to winch back up so they took it out below and they were able to drive it to the staging area.

This could have easily turned into a fatality (or ies). There's lots of trees on the trip down, which may have saved them & helped. Cadillac Hill gets your attention going up or down in forward gears, let alone backwards! It's also amazing they drove the truck out, although it couldn't have been in great condition. Best of all they are OK & got out. Too bad about their dog.
We all must remember that sometimes what we do has different levels of risk & rushing (bad decisions) into things can lead into some dangerous results. In our group, experience is helpful.
