We have a thread on the members only section of the forum regarding Sierra Trek. I'm going to post information here for non-members who might be interested in attending. We are leading the Outer Limits run for high clearance, stock(ish) vehicles on Saturday August 12th. We are also staffing Winch Hill 4 on Friday the 11th. Volunteers get a reduce fee for attending. For information on Sierra Trek check this link: https://cal4wheel.com/sierra-trek If you want more info just ask.
Here is what I posted on the club only page:
Sierra Trek is having a planning meeting this Wednesday. Here is what I have so far:
WH 4 crew for Friday August 11th and the Outer Limits Run on Saturday the 12th:
1. Jeff R. (me)
2. Brian C.
3. John M.
4. Kris O.
5. Jamie C.
I hope we can get a few more people to join us for Sierra Trek. We will have open seats if you want to ride along and not drive one or both trails. You can get to Meadow Lake in a 2WD vehicle. Please post up if interested.

I understand from Brian that there is some interest from non-members. If any non-members want to volunteer at Sierra Trek let me know because I have a special link for volunteer registration that I can send you that will enable you to get the volunteer discount. Volunteers are called committee members. As a volunteer (committee member) you get to go on one extra run for free. I believe all of us have signed up for the Thursday Committee River Poker Run. The River Poker Run goes from Meadow Lake down winch hill 5, 4 and 3 and then crosses the creek where we eat lunch. After lunch we go back to Meadow lake via the same route. Most if not all of us are planning to camp together at Meadow Lake and a couple of us will head up early to secure a campsite. Regardless of whether you drive your own rig or just want to ride along with someone else, this is a fun event (huge raffel, fire pit with live music and bar and lots of 4X4 chit chat) and a good opportunity to see some technical wheeling on the River Run.

I would like to get a final head count. Here is what I have so far:
WH 4 crew for Friday August 11th and the Outer Limits Run on Saturday the 12th:
1. Jeff R. (me)
2. Brian C.
3. John M.
4. Kris O.
5. Jamie C.
Is anyone else planning to attend and help with the Outer Limits run and WH4? This is the bare minimum number of people we need and ideally we could use one or two more rigs for the Outer Limits run and one or two more bodies to assist with WH4. If you want to help on WH4 you don't have to wheel there, you can ride with one of us from Meadow Lake. Meadow Lake can be reach in a 2WD.

I believe Jayson (celltech ?) said he was planning to help with both the WH and with Outer Limits.

I will be heading up either Tuesday late afternoon for early on Wednesday morning to hopefully get us a good campsite. I won't know which day I'm leaving until about noon on Tuesday. When and what time are the rest of you heading up to Meadow Lake? Do the rest of you want to meet up with each other and head up as a group?
As a reminder, you are on your own for all lunches and for breakfast on Thursday. Breakfast will be provided on Sunday. I think we will need to head out fairly early on Friday morning to staff winch hill 4. As I recall, I think we were able to grab a quick breakfast on Saturday last year before the Outer Limits run. We might be on our own for breakfast on Friday or we might be able to catch a quick breakfast before we head out to staff WH4.
Looking forward to this event!

I am heading up Wednesday and I think Brian was also. I was going to ask about heading up together as well. If you go Wenesday not sure how early you are talking, I am about 90 minutes from the Applegate on-ramp which is where I assume you will get on 80 Jeff.Brian, what was your plan?
If I do head up Wednesday morning, I figured that since I have a much shorter drive then you all, it would make sense for you, Brian and John to meet up and caravan (if that works for each of you) and I could get there much earlier and grab us a good campsite. Last year John and I got there in the late morning and campsites were filling up fast.
Both the Tahoe and Eldorado National Forests have imposed campfire restrictions which means no open fires, charcoal fires or gas stoves except in designated campgrounds. That's one reason to try to secure a campsite while the other reasons are close proximity to Trek camp and vaulted toilets. They did pump the toilets this week so that is good news.

We are registered for Sierra Trek and will be heading up on Thurs and helping out with the Winch Hill and Outer Limits (where ever we are needed). I saw someone say they are securing camp space, will there be room for us there? Or do we need to get a space when we come up. Being as this is our first year we arent sure exactly how everything is going to go. Any and all information/suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Looking forward to seeing everyone and getting to know you better!

I'm going to try to get the same two campsites we had last year. They are close to the water on the southeast side of the campground. If you circle the very outside of the campground you can't miss it. The best way to get there is to go past the campground and then turn left once you get to the intersection with the Trek hub and all the outhouses on your right. There should be room for all of us. If I can't get those sites, I will try and find two sites that are connected for all of us. Just cruise the campground and look for my red TJ. I will also put up some orange flagging to signal our site.

I will be heading up Wednesday morning. We normally meet at the Truckee Shell Station off 89 {south of 80} next to McDonalds to gas up one last time.

I think we met there around 8 or 9am. From there it's almost 2 hours to the camp ground including airing down.
We got there around noon and I believe we got campsites 20 to 22 or there abouts. Look for Kris's marked tree

Hey guys, remember last year the crew working WH4 was giving out rainbow popsicles? A lot of the WH teams give people something. If we can come up with something then I will pick it up and bring it with me. Any ideas? Tootsie pops or some other candy that won't melt? Please let me know what you think.
Also, can someone bring a large quantity of club interest cards? We could possibly hand them out with the (candy?) or hand them out at the Outer Limits run.

Fun idea Jeff! We could just Duck everyone
If we did something in a flat wrapper like the two items below, we could just tape club interest cards to them. I don't have any interest cards in bulk, I know Lynda has a box and I could pick them up from her if the are in town.

Here is how it started, I know it is really big the further east you go and I see it a bit out here. I actually had a little boy give me one a couple months ago, I left it in the GeoCache we found on the Rubicon run.

Lets use PosseV2 – 151.760 MHz for communication. I will try to remember to monitor my radio starting Wednesday in the mid to late morning in case you want try to radio me when you get close to camp to verify the campsite and location. I will also try to text Kris, Jamie, Brian and John the location after I get a campsite secured. I must be getting excited because my Jeep is mostly packed except for food and clothing. Right now I'm 90% sure that I'm going to head up on Tuesday afternoon.

That makes sense since our house is less than an hour to Alabama.

PosseV2 works for me so I don't have to change anything.
I am planning on heading up Wednesday morning if anyone wants to meet up at the Shell Station in Truckee.
