Excellent points. I need my Jeep to head up I-80 or Hwy 50, not down to the valley.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

Got the Jeep back from the shop with the new gears done. The 5;13s made an amazing difference. No more feathering the clutch when taking off from stop signs. Now comes the 500 mile break in period, I will be driving it to work every day. I can definitely recommend The Chop Shop in Dixon. They were very nice, good price, done when promised, and even re calibrated my computer for the new gears so the speedo was correct. Good service and good price, worth the drive.

Getting a rhythmic squeak/chirping sound from under my Jeep.
Could this be caused by the gear install or is it just the tell-tale sign that my drive shaft is starting to go?
I've heard diff gears that whine, whir, clunk and scream... But never chirp.
Just want to make sure it's not possibly the gears before I order a new drive shaft.

Drive lines don't fail. It's joints 99% of the time. They can be replaced for much less than a new DL.

Good move. We think u did the right thing. So, the Chop Shop reprogrammed the factory computer for ur speedometer?

I ran my stock shafts till they were about to die. Though it was quite awhile ago I don't think I ever got any sound (not that it couldn't happen) my tell was the ripped boots and grease all in the tunnel.

If your front drive line is stock, could it be touching the exhaust crossover pipe?

Plenty of clearance between the drive shaft and the exhaust crossover.

I think I might just replace the front drive line since it's recommended to do that anyways when you lift a JK. We will see if that stops the noise. Probably order one on line and have a work day to put it and my tie rod in.

[near] Future plans include putting on my soft top, adding a winch, CB and antenna, Chromo front shafts with HD u-joints, getting rid of the huge rear exhaust, and finally installing my Poison Spyder rocker panels and HD tie rod. Then it should be trail worthy...

photo6.jpgImage EnlargerI just ordered some aftermarket half doors so I can hit the trails again.

Dent resistant hard plastic, fully sealed for water crossing, accepts factory mirrors.

Mine didn't come with half doors.

It's not even an option any more.

I don't like wheeling with full doors.

Therefore...

I didn't know they stopped offering half doors.  That's a bummer.   I saw that the new wrangler pick up comes with a non removable top. It would have been cool if that truck had a hard top you could take off.

Oh and I like the doors you chose. Do you transfer your mirrors or does it come with them?

The mirrors transfer over or you can buy replacements to mount on them.

They are currently developing a matching upper with a slider window.

I'll have the best of both worlds; Half doors for Summer and full doors for Winter.
