Hey Jeff… Jerry here (blue FJ). I’m interested in attending and volunteering for the Outer Limits run with our club. The website is a little confusing so hoping to learn a thing or two at the club meeting on Thursday. If it’s too late to participate as a committee member, that is fine.

My brother and a friend are also considering joining, but I don’t think they’d be volunteering as this is their first run.

I will be at the meeting. Do you need me to send you the committee (volunteer) registration link so that you can get the discount. You're not too late for anything, including being able to order apparel. If you need the link then please post the full name that you would be registering under as they will cross check it with the committee member list I submit to them.

Awesome Jerry! Volunteering on this trip is not difficult, it consists of bringing me gin & tonics when I don't want to get out of the lake to make my own grin

This year's Sierra Trek theme is Big Foot. We have a $200 allowance from Cal 4x4 to do some kind of Big Foot theme for the Outer Limits Run. Does anyone have any fun suggestions? It could be costumes, swag for participants, etc. as long as it is Big Foot.

For $200, I would probably go with stickers that have an outline of bigfoot and says "Outer Limits 2025".

I agree with the sticker idea. Maybe have bigfoot wearing a posse shirt, and stickers can be handed out to the participants.

Stickers is not a bad idea ... maybe an "outlaw" big foot being chased by the posse????? grin

If the stickers are too complicated, they may be expensive and go over the $200 budget.

Here is an example of what I was thinking (text simple and easy to read, maybe center it to make it look nicer).

I kind of dig this one, maybe we could polish it a bit, but I dig it. I'd be willing to supplement the funds they give is to get them on shirts. Maybe we could talk to Romika for silk screened shirts.

Please feel free to tweak it. This was just a quick thrown together visual to explain what I had in mind. Or the club can decide on something completely different, won't hurt my feelings.

Do we have to use a Cal4wheeler vendor or can we use our own? May talk with Romika Hill.

I like the simple sticker idea. Maybe an "I found bigfoot" bumper sticker for the run participants?

Could also use the $200 for some sort of prize to give to one of the run participants. Raffle would be easy but we could also turn it into a poker run of scavenger hunt

Ok, I went a little crazy, here are some ideas. They are all the same just different fonts. Some of them look goofy and need adjustment to the curve or size, but I can do that if we like one of them and I can just clean it up a little. If you have another font you like I can mock that one up also. Let me know what you think!

Sierra Trek will be held August 7-10, 2025. The cub will again be leading the Outer Limits Run on the Bear Valley Loop Trail on Saturday August 9th. You can attend Sierra Trek as a volunteer (called a committee member) or as a regular attendee. Committee members receive a discounted registration rate of $125 per person (regular registration is $300/person but there are lower rates for camping and meals only; i.e. no 4X4 run included). The registration fee for committee members includes meals plus one committee run in addition to the Outer Limits Run. Committee members can also pay an extra fee to participate in an additional run. Meals include dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You are on your own for Thursday breakfast and all lunches. There are several new runs this year including some overlanding trips (link for run descriptions: https://cal4wheel.com/sierra-t.....scriptions).

There are a number of positions open for committee members. Since the club has agreed to lead the Outer Limits Run, it is important that we have six to eight rigs to assist in leading the run. In addition, there are a number of other committee positions that Sierra Trek is looking to fill. Those positions include but are not limited to helping cook or serve breakfast(s) or dinner(s), spotting/assisting on winch hills and a variety of other jobs.

If your are interested in becoming a committee member please post your area of interest in this thread (i.e. Outer Limits Run, winch hill/spotting aid, meals, etc.) or see me with any questions. If you are interested in being a committee member please post the names in this thread of anyone in your group who would like to serve as a committee member. I will need to submit those names to the registration team and give you a special registration link in order for you to receive the committee member discount. Please do not share the committee member registration link with anyone else. Once I have a complete list of committee members I will submit that list to the registration team and will send you the committee registration link at that time. Cost for committee members is $125. You can sign up for additional runs or purchase apparel when you register online.

If you are registering as a regular individual (i.e. not as a committee member) here is the link: https://cal4wheel.com/events/sierra-trek. The standard registration fee is $300 per person plus $40 for any additional runs.

I will also be posting a separate thread in the future for a pre-run on the Bear Valley Loop Trail, which we will do a few weeks prior to Sierra Trek (probably July 26th). The Bear Valley Loop Trail is a moderate trail and this run would be open to anyone who wishes to attend, regardless if you are attending Sierra Trek or not. The purpose of the pre-run is to plan the Outer Limits Run and to do any necessary maintenance in order to make the Outer Limits Run safe and enjoyable for Sierra Trek attendees.

A number of us are planning to go up early and camp for a week or so.

Hi Jeff,

I'm back from vacation and can now refocus on attending.  Is it possible for you to resend the volunteer link so I can register?  Thanks!

Kathleen and Brad

I think the XFiles one and the Hollywood one might be my favorites.

Are we looking for just plain white stickers or color.  We have a cricut machine that can cut out plain white vinyl stickers.  It's about $23 for 100 8x11 sheets if paper.  Depending on the size we want, that's possibly 200 window stickers.  Not sure what it would cost through a business, but just trying to put out other options.

Stickers or prize, we need to decide soon so that we have time to do it. I will attempt to create a poll, please whomever sees this try and get as many members as possible to go and vote on the poll. (Thinking poll 1 will decide sticker or prize, and if sticker then poll 2 to select from one of Jamie's designs)

To clarify, Jeff is saying that Cal4Wheel is giving us a $200 budget for something connected to our Outer Limits Run. Jamie and I were thinking participation stickers, Olof had the idea that instead of stickers, doing a prize of some sort. In an attempt to get input (as we are short on time before the event), here is a poll so that the club can weigh in on this.

Sierra Trek $200 Item

  • Bigfoot Sticker(0% : 0 votes)
  • Bigfoot Trail Prize(0% : 0 votes)
Total Voters: 0
