I'm good with whatever you all decided. It just needs to be a Big Foot theme to qualify to receive the $200 allowance from Trek.

I know I'm late to the party, but since these are handed out, do we want something that is more for the participants.  The stickers above look kind of catered to our club members.

Something like "I Survived" or "I ran with Bigfoot"

OR

If we keep the original design add "Hosted by Gold Hills Posse"

I'm officially out of Sierra Trek this year.

Aileen is coming home from a 2 and a half month work assignment overseas and I'm heading over to help bring her stuff back.

I may still come up and camp on Monday and Tuesday and leave Wednesday as I fly out on Thursday the 7th.

I received a message from Tom Allgaier, the chairman of this year's Sierra Trek, asking if we had any members who would be willing to help out with breakfast detail on Friday morning. Is there anyone who would like to volunteer to help them with this?

Hi Jeff,

Jerry Spurgin here. I am registered as a committee member, my wife had decided not to go. But now my son-in-law would like to go with me. If it is still possible to register as a committee member his name is Joe Freeman, most of you all know him. He let his Cal4wheel membership lapse, if necessary, we will renew his membership.

My number is 775-813-2146, please text me.

Thank you

Jerry Spurgin aka Rocky Raccoon

Something like this would be cheap to get printed.

Any other text ideas?

Looks good to me Kris. Not sure if we have enough time to do anything now, but maybe.

Help needed. I just received the below email. If anyone can help with loading, unloading or towing a trailer to or from Meadow Lake please let me know and I will connect you with the appropriate Leadership team member.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi all,

We are one week away from trailer loading and we only have 1 volunteer willing to tow.  Committee registration this year is going to be over 300 volunteers.  Years ago, there was a mandatory requirement that each committee commit a person or two for setting up and tearing down to avoid this problem.  Sadly each year that it hasn't been mandatory, setup and take down volunteers get fewer and fewer.

I would like to think this isn't because our volunteers don't want to help, but rather they might not know how great the need is.

In preparation for this Wednesday's final planning meeting, we need you to reach out to your clubs to see if this is a way that they are interested in helping.  I believe there is plenty of help if we get the word out.  Towing, setting up, or tearing down....many hands make light work.

Thank you - Sierra Trek Leadership

Hi we are all registered for Sierra Trek and it will be myself, my wife, our daughter and her boyfriend. We will be arriving on Wednesday 8/6 in the afternoon and we will be tent camping.  We are happy to be attending as new members of the club.

Hey Jeff.  When is tear down?  Saturday evening, or Sunday?  And when is Set up?  Maybe I can day trip the the set up?  Or do help with tear down after our run on Saturday?

I dont have a truck, and the Jeep has limited towing ability (2000lbs). I will be getting up there Wednesday mid day and will stay until Sunday. I am willing to volunteer as needed, when not on a club run.

Tear down will be Sunday morning. Set up occurs up until Wednesday as far as I know. I sent a request for more specific information on set up, towing and tear down activities and times and dates. Trailer loading occurs at Cal 4WD headquarters (I think) and involves loading up trailers with all the cooking stuff and things like that. I will get back to you all when I hear back for the chairman.

Here is the reply:

Hi Jeff, we will be loading trailers at the Cal 4 office Saturday the 26th at 0800. As soon as they are loaded, we will caravan to Meadow Lake. I have a total of 5 trailers to be towed, they are as follows:
Kitchen trailer towed by myself.
BBQ trailer towed by Steve Chickos
22’ Flatbed towed by Jim Silveira (Chris’s dad) tentative
12’ white enclosed trailer 2-5/16 7 pin with brakes-open
12’ white enclosed trailer 2” 7 pin with brakes-open

On the return trip, I’ve only got myself and Steve Chickos returning trailers to Cal4. I still need drivers for the flatbed and the two enclosed trailers for Sunday the 11th.
I am also picking up the generator on Thurs the 31st in Rocklin, as well as possibly towing the water truck up from where we turn off pavement onto dirt.
Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tom

Thanks Jeff.  I can't help with the tow experience, but what about set up on say Tuesday or Monday?  Is there someone I should reach out to?

I don't have anything to tow with either. My Jeep has a hitch, but it already runs hot without a trailer on it.

How does the camping work and how do we find the GHP when we get there on Wednesday?

I can't imagine how incredibly difficult it is to organize and pull this event off, but I am unfortunately already committed. If they can get in front of this next year I could probably make time for at least loading and maybe more.

I should be able to make this Saturday's pre-run. We have another request from the Trek chairman. There was supposed to be a Friday Outer Limits Run but the run leader who was supposed to promote it and lead it backed out. There are only two people signed up for it and one is planning to do the run again on Saturday. The other person is signed up for another run on Saturday. Tom asked if we could do a Friday run for these two people. I told him that since we have a large number of committee members I was sure we could take care of it. I am working winch hill five on Friday. I need at least two people who would be willing to lead the Friday Outer Limits Run. You would then get Saturday off or if you want to run it again, go with us on Saturday. Please let me know ASAP if your can lead the Friday run so I can confirm it with the Trek chairman.

Thanks!!!!

I may be able to help do it.  Let’s talk after saturdays run since that will be my first time on that trail.

I have OnX and have the trail mapped, but I am not super experienced. If I can get a more experienced person to go with me, I am willing to help.

I originally signed up for our Outer Limits and a Poker Run (that I may or may not have a strong enough rig for). So if Trek will let me, I can swap Poker for Friday Outer.

I dont plan to sit in camp. I will either be leading runs or be unofficially lending a hand stacking rocks all weekend.

Due to family obligations related to the death of my stepmom, I will not be able to bring my trailer up and camp earlier in the week like I had planned for this event. I hope those who do plan to go up earlier can stake out a place for others to camp. I will be arriving on Wednesday August 6th and tent camping through Sunday. Can I get an updated list of who is attending and when you expect to arrive? We normally try to secure a campsite in the campground that is close to the dam end of the lake next to a cove in Meadow Lake. When you arrive just go to the far end of the campground. I hope Starlink Roy will post their (our) camping location after they arrive.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: do not follow your GPS until you get to Webber Lake otherwise you will be very sorry!!! GPS will take you on a goat trail is you follow it unless you take Jackson Meadows Road to Webber Lake. There is one turnoff at Webber Lake and another one maybe a mile or so past Meadow Lake. If you turn off of Jackson Meadows Road any sooner, good luck!
